An acoustic guitar is a real joy of the guitar. Unlike the electric guitar, which requires amplifiers, effects boxes and stuff like that, the electric guitar can make music anywhere, anytime. An excellent acoustic guitar can give you an eternity of joy, as well as in the hands of the skillful player, can be created to complete almost anything.

Acoustic guitars, however, tend to be far more hard to shop for than electric guitars. The caliber of the wood, the finishing, even the curvature from the back have various effects about the company's audio made by the guitar. Actually, you will find that no two instruments will sound the same, even if they are the same model in the same manufacturer.

For a newbie, it seems sensible to purchase an acoustic guitar. Electric guitars can be awfully complicated using the amplifier and effects pedals. Acoustic guitars, on the other hand, are extremely easy to get and play.

Whenever you buy an acoustic guitar, ensure that you invest in a capo, some top quality strings (most the beginner should start off with medium gauge strings), a humidifier (a must if you end up investing in a high end guitar), some thick, medium, and thin picks, a tuner, along with a counter. With all these musical instruments, you can dive right into learning to play your guitar.

A high end guitar from the manufacturer just like Martin will undoubtedly give better quality of sound than a less expensive instrument. However, top end Martins tend to be awfully expensive, running into thousands of dollars.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, cheap instruments by manufacturers just like Yamaha are usually much more difficult to play and also have less sound quality. When just beginning, these can really put you off playing the guitar.

Hence, the best way to start buying your first guitar is to find something in the mid-range. You can get a guitar which has both great audio and quality while still being inexpensive enough for $400-600. Makers just like Fender, Yamaha, Ovation have excellent instruments on this range.

When you go to your guitar shop to create the actual purchase, make sure that you spend enough time with the guitar. Do not be in a rush; take your time, play a few chords, ask around for advice, try multiple guitars, in support of select the one that "feels right" to you.
