Picture yourself coming home from work and stopped before a red light. Now a vehicle from nowhere suddenly bumped your rear end and because of this, you were forcefully thrown out of your car.

You noticed your car's damage after taking the other driver's name, address, and name of the insurance company. You were looking for someone to help you but no policeman was available.

You happen to be in the supermarket doing some shopping. Stumbling over a box protruding from the lower shelf caused you to writhe in pain from a twisted ankle while you were walking down the aisle.

After the incident, the clerk helped you get up and called the manager. Your name and address was requested by the manager.

After seeing this basketball game, the stand unexpectedly collapsed on you which caused you to have an injured arm. With this, an ambulance rushed you to the nearest hospital where you had x rays, in here you found out that your arm is broken. You can do two things if you get injured in accidents like these.

The first option is getting an attorney to do the job who is willing to get a certain percentage from the settlement or lawsuit. But if you're not in favor of the first option, there's number two wherein you could do things on your own without the help of any lawyer.

But if you don't want to trouble yourself with these concerns and then go hire a personal injury or negligence attorney. Knowing who really is legally guilty of such careless act is the first thing that an experienced lawyer has to do.

Basically, lawyers would do what they are tasked to do such as interviewing witnesses, taking photographs, ensuring that you be examined by physicians or surgeons, and calculating how much your injuries would cost the offender. Not until he is able to have the claims adjuster agreed at a fair settlement, or is forced to file a case which could eventually take two to four years to process, he will still negotiate with the claims adjuster.

If you are already going through a lot such as not knowing how to face your case, injuries acquired are permanent and serious, and if there is doubt about the matter of liability, then a lawyer should be hired even if it will consume a percentage of what you will get from the settlement or suit. But if in case your attorney loses, don't worry because you will not pay anything.

Just like the three mentioned awhile ago, there are quite a lot of cases which involves minor injury or property damage wherein there are more pros than cons if you try to settle your own case. In fact, if you have average intelligence and can follow a few simple rules, there's no reason why you can't handle the matter yourself.

Quite an amount of time and money would be saved. This is because lawyers actually charge for their services.

Around 35 to 40 percent will how much the lawyer of a personal injury case receive from the total amount retrieved from the case. Fees may change too, but it depends on the arrangements you had with your attorney.

The way lawyers charge for fees is two ways which are affected by the area where you live, how heavy your injuries are, and of course, the attorney himself. The first one is dependent on the gross income, while the second is on the net income which is the result of after all deductions.
