According to one attorney, the way lawyers who represent indigent clients are compensated is unconstitutional and must be replaced with a fairer system. The justice indicated how similar the current situation is to what had been done in the old federal system where attorneys from urban areas willingly gave legal representation without compensation. Now, a federal public defenders' system is available.
While it may be true that attorneys are unfairly being required to pay to defend their clients, the accused also have their constitutional right of having adequate legal representation violated.
